Today we held “Victorian School Day”, on which the children of Kensington Wade got to experience what school was like during the Victorian era.
After singing the National Anthem, the children attended morning lessons which were split in to a boy’s class and a girl’s class. There was no modern technology permitted during the lessons (chalk slates were used for writing), and children followed strict codes of manners and obedience just like in 1800’s.
Victorian school day was held today at schools across the country to commemorate 200 years since the birth of Queen Victoria. Some of the children and staff also dressed up for the occasion, which you can see a few pictures of below.
