Black History Month Celebrations

This week Kensington Wade have been celebrating Black History Month. On Monday each class participated in different workshops from Perform for Schools – the lower year groups learnt about African animals and learnt a special African chant. The upper year groups looked at famous black people in history such as Mary Seacole, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King. Throughout the week each class participated in different activities that supported their workshop, for example, Nursery and Year 4 worked together to make edible musical instruments (pictured), Reception made a fruit salad with fruit that comes from Africa, Year 1 made Caribbean banana fritters and Year 5 interviewed Mrs Malloy on her experiences of apartheid in South Africa.
