Year 4 make their own compasses

Year 4 have been making their own compasses! The children have been learning about how the compass was created in ancient China during the Han Dynasty  around 100AD. They have discovered that the Chinese initially developed the compass not for navigation but for spiritual purposes and to organise buildings and other things according to the custom of  Feng Shui.
