We have had a busy time celebrating Chinese New Year! Last week we were joined by pupils from our neighbouring school, Melcombe Primary School, to watch an exciting lion dance and then all children had lots of fun at our Chinese New Year Fair organised by our Head of Chinese, Wang Laoshi. Children could try their hand at a number of stalls including Pin the Tail on the Rabbit, Chinese dressing up, Chinese calligraphy, face painting and solving riddles.
This week was the grown ups turn when staff from both schools joined together on Tuesday evening to host a Chinese New Year party! We welcomed almost 80 guests from Hammersmith & Fulham Council and from the Chinese and educational community to showcase our collaboration to help introduce the Chinese culture and language to MPS pupils and the wider community. Guests heard a presentation from pupils from both schools, were treated to a performance from internationally acclaimed Chinese percussionist Beibei Wang and friends and even had the opportunity to make traditional Chinese dumplings. A fantastic time was had by all. Happy Year of the Rabbit!
